According to official data published by the government in the Parliament (Lok Sabha), India’s exports from the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) increased by 11.8%, reaching 16.36 trillion rupees (equivalent to 377.16 billion USD) in the financial year 2025-2026. This growth reflects measures taken to enhance operational efficiency, attract investments, and integrate these zones with local supply chains.
Exports from these zones have shown steady growth over five financial years, rising from 9.91 trillion rupees (approximately 103.82 billion USD) in 2021-2022 to 12.63 trillion rupees (about 660 billion USD) in 2025-2026. This trend indicates ongoing expansion in the manufacturing and export-oriented services sectors within the SEZs.
At the state level, Gujarat State accounted for the highest exports from SEZs, totalling 4.06 trillion rupees (about 42.53 billion USD) in 2025-2026, followed by Karnataka with 2.69 trillion rupees (approximately 28.18 billion USD).
The States of Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu recorded exports valued at 2.43 trillion rupees (around 25.46 billion USD) and 2.12 trillion rupees (approximately 125.7 billion USD), respectively. These four States remained the largest contributors to exports during the fiscal year.
