During the Egyptian-Omani Investment Forum, which was held at the headquarters of the General Union of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce on August 11, 2026, Mohamed El Shizaoui, Head of Investment Development Department in North Al Batinah Governorate, Sultanate of Oman, indicated that investments in the economic and industrial zones in Oman have exceeded $52 billion, distributed across more than 22 strategic areas, including free zones, industrial zones, and economic zones, along with projects related to industrial education and the digital economy, supported by various investment incentives. He also clarified that about 40% of maritime trade in Oman passes through the Port of Sohar, and investments in the port and its free zone have exceeded $3 billion. His country relies heavily on cooperation with Egypt, especially through joint cooperation between the chambers of commerce in both countries, to enhance trade exchange, joint investments, and open new markets for both countries.
