Uzbekistan: An Investment Paradise within Special Economic Zones

As of July 1, 2026, Uzbekistan has 34 special economic zones, 400 small industrial zones, 27 technology parks, 354 clusters, and 163 youth industrial and entrepreneurial zones (YIEZs).

According to the National Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the industrial output of enterprises operating in the country’s special economic zones reached 32,060.5 billion soums (5.08 million USD) in the period from January to June 2026, the highest among all types of economic zones in the country, representing a 21.0% increase compared to 26,504.1 billion soums (2.23 billion USD) in the same period of 2025.

The special economic zones included 1,167 participant enterprises, compared to 3,187 in small industrial zones, 4,302 in technology parks, 384 in clusters, and 1,289 in youth industrial and entrepreneurial zones.

Industrial production in the first half of 2026 reached 10,062.2 billion soums (approximately 5.22 million USD) in small industrial zones, 19,235.3 billion soums (1.61 billion USD) in clusters, 1,632.6 billion soums (137 million USD) in technology parks, and 491.7 billion soums (41 million USD) in youth industrial and entrepreneurial zones.

Additionally, the special economic zones recorded the largest volume of fixed capital investments from all sources of financing reaching 5,116.5 billion soums (430.3 million USD). Investments were distributed as follows: 1,633.2 billion soums (137.23 million USD) in clusters, 808.9 billion soums (67.86 million USD) in technology parks, 551.8 billion soums (46.36 million USD) in small industrial zones, and 1.4 billion soums (118 million USD) in youth industrial and entrepreneurial zones.

Technology parks recorded the largest volume of market services: 19,085.8 billion soums (around 7.2 million USD), followed by special economic zones with 1,161.7 billion soums (13.6 million USD), clusters with 711.3 billion soums (59.67 million USD), small industrial zones with 707.9 billion soums (59.39 million USD), and youth industrial and entrepreneurial zones with 159.4 billion soums (13.39 million USD).

Regarding employment, enterprises participating in the special economic zones employed around 60,000 people, compared to 62,000 in the technology parks, 50,000 in clusters, 43,000 in small industrial zones, and 6,000 in youth industrial and entrepreneurial zones. The total number of jobs was 61,210 in the special economic zones, 65,841 in technology parks, 51,775 in clusters, 44,028 in small industrial zones, and 6,527 in youth industrial and entrepreneurial zones.
