The Jordanian Cabinet has approved a package of incentives and exemptions aimed at attracting investment in automotive manufacturing and assembly in Zarqa Development Zone, as part of efforts to enhance local value added and strengthen Jordan’s competitiveness in the sector. The level of support is linked to the size of the investment and the extent of manufacturing undertaken locally. Eligible projects must invest at least US$50 million in complete knock-down (CKD) assembly or full manufacturing, or at least US$20 million in semi-knocked-down (SKD) assembly and employ no fewer than 50 Jordanian workers. Depending on the project category, the incentives include support for electricity prices, reductions in land prices, container-handling costs, and infrastructure expenses, as well as broader tax and customs benefits for projects generating greater industrial and export impact. The package also encourages full-manufacturing projects to attract supporting industries, contributing to the development of an integrated automotive industry supply chain in the Kingdom.
