During the Kazakhstan–China Investment Forum, Kazakhstan’s NERO Group announced plans to establish an AI-powered robotics plant in partnership with China’s UBTECH Robotics in Almaty’s special economic zone, with an estimated investment of US$440 million. The project aims to localize robotics manufacturing technologies and expand their use across education, services, manufacturing, logistics, and social support.
The plans include supplying around 60 schools in Almaty with robots by the end of 2026, followed by more than 200 additional schools by 2028. Local production of service and humanoid robots is also scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2027, with an annual capacity of up to 1,000 robots.
