In early August, the Liberia Special Economic Zones Authority (LSEZA) and the Liberia National Tourism Authority (LNTA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to develop Liberia’s first Special Tourism Economic Zone (STEZ) at Lake Piso in Grand Cape Mount County. Under the MOU, the Liberia Special Economic Zones Authority will be responsible for designating and managing the special tourism economic zone. The authority will also oversee investment incentives, coordinate infrastructure development, and provide a comprehensive platform to facilitate investors. The proposed Special Tourism Economic Zone is expected to contribute to diversifying Liberia’s economy by expanding the country’s Special Economic Zones program to include high-value tourism services, in addition to industrial and commercial activities.
