During his meeting with President Vladimir Putin, Novgorod Region Governor Alexander Dronov reviewed the performance of the special economic zone established in 2021 to support high-tech industries. He noted that investment commitments had exceeded 9 billion rubles, that 16 companies had obtained resident status, and that eight investors had begun production with investments totalling 4.5 billion rubles. He also highlighted a project to establish a university campus in Veliky Novgorod with capacity for 4,000 students and young researchers. The Novgorodskaya Special Economic Zone is acting as the concessionaire for the project, which aims to connect advanced industries with scientific research and develop skilled professionals. The campus is expected to become operational in 2027.
